What Makes Racing So Exciting?
If you have ever watched a NASCAR race on t.v. then you may have said to yourself " What is so exciting about watching a bunch of guys driving around in circles? "
Well, now that I think about it, I think I was actually one of those people at one time. Then one weekend back in 1994 I got some Nascar tickets to the spring Talladega Superspeedway race and my wife and I went to the track. HOLY COW!!!!! So many people, so many things to see, I had never seen a sporting event this large and with so many people in my life.
When we sat in the stands, you could feel the energy everywhere. Then the cars came by after the green flag was dropped at around 200 m.p.h. and I almost soiled myself right then and there. The sound was so intense as were the sights and smells. You could not help but get goosebumps, it was that electric.
That is all it took to make my wife and I Nascar fans for life. We couldn't wait to get some Nascar tickets and take our friends and family to a race and see what they have been missing. There are many different track styles around the Nascar circuit. They are all uniqe in their own way and they all offer something different to all the different race fans.
The SuperSpeedways such as Daytona International Speedway and Talladega offer 3 and 4 wide racing with the possibility of a massive pile up around every corner.
Maybe you like seeing tempers flare. If that is the case then you will love the Short Tracks such as Bristol Motor Speedway, Richmond International Raceway and Martinsville Speedway.
And then there are people who love to see the drivers pure skill play into the mix. There are the Road Courses such as Infineon and Watkins Glen and there are the challenging tracks like Darlington and Pocono.
I myself love the night races. The Bristol Motor Speedway and Richmond International Raceway night races offer so much excitement and i never miss one of these. You will definately see sparks fly and tempers flare and you will be on the edge of your seat the entire race.
So, no matter what track you go to, you are sure to see plenty of action and excitement around every turn.
We now have a ritual every year. We take 3-4 days and camp out along with thousands of other Nascar fans at Atlanta Motor Speedway. We get to cook out and make camp fires and meet new friends. There are parties happening everywhere. Most of the parties are somewhat family friendly, but I have heard that some of the parties at Talladega Superspeedway can get kinda wild resembeling a more Mardi Gras atmosphere.
